Al Benoit “Angry Al”

For as long as he can remember, Al has always been interested in art, specifically comic and skateboard art. When he was 15, his cousin walked him into a tattoo shop for the first time. That visit led to Al getting a job and set the course for his tattoo career. Also at the age of 15, Al got his very first tattoo… a “Sick of It All” dragon on his arm done by Mike Geadono at Tattoo Mania in Derry, NH, which he proudly still has to this day.

In 2005, Al started his apprenticeship under Jason Hurly at Studio 3 Tattoo in Pembroke, NH. The shop was owned by a professional skateboarder who turned it into a tattoo shop /skateboard park with a three-foot mini ramp in the front lobby. It turned out to be a perfect fit for Al and he has said about Studio 3, “I learned everything about life during my apprenticeship, and it was the happiest time in my life.” Since then, Al has dedicated many years to tattooing, and he continuously works to refine and improve his craft. He is especially fond of large projects, and some of his favorite tattoo styles are Old School, Traditional, Horror, Asian, Celtic, Religious, Tribal, and Bio-Mechanical.

Nowadays, Al spends his time at his own shop, Bulletproof TigerTattoo, where he continues to provide his clients with original tattoos, tailored specifically to their own interests and style. What inspires Al is what he is surrounded by… a good book or movie, a song he heard, or his co-workers. When he isn’t tattooing, he enjoys spending time with his son and being out in nature, either hiking or fishing or skiing. If you were to ask Al what he loves most about tattooing, he would tell you that it’s being able to work in a creative environment, listen to music, meet new people and swap stories… especially the one about his most memorable tattoo session. If you want to hear about what happened, you’ll have to come through and get tattooed from the man himself.
